The Record Run Anniversary Trip
The commemoration of ‘Lizzie’s’ 1936 exploits, which took place on 12/13 November, has been well chronicled both in print and via the Internet.
We would like to say a sincere thank you to all those people who have made such positive comments about the engine, its place in history, and how it looked and performed on the celebration weekend.
This note of appreciation cannot be allowed to pass without us also thanking those associated with the Railway Industry who - in a variety of often inconspicuous ways – make events such as this possible in the first place.
We also feel that readers of this website will join with its author in extending a huge vote of thanks to the Engineering team and all the support crew members who have, over the years, given so much to ensure that 6201 remains a popular and reliable presence on the main line.
Our 2011 programme is now complete following the Liverpool – York and return ‘York Yuletide Express’ of 11 December and as our thoughts turn to 2012 we are aware that our Boiler Certificate expires in March. At this time it appears possible that an extension may be obtained and we plan to keep information on that as up to date as possible on this website.
In the meantime, the Society offers its best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all our website visitors.
